Mercenaries of the Galactic Frontier

We live in the NewEden galaxy. Four centuries ago, an environmental catastrophe destroyed Earth. The founders of this galaxy fled on a vast starship called the Ark. As they headed toward a new solar system, the experimental jump drive malfunctioned, and the Ark became trapped inside a jump column. After thirteen years, the survivors escape the jump column, only to find themselves stranded between galaxies in an unknown part of the universe.

NewEden is a disk-shaped spiral galaxy that is approximately 100,000 light years wide and composed of more than 100 billion stars. Five wide spiral arms wind around the galactic core.

Humanity has settled primarily along one of the galactic spirals in eight solar systems that are collectively called the prime systems. These are well-developed worlds with sprawling cities, magnificent space stations, and luxurious planet-side terraforming. The Sol System is the most populated.

The cities are marvels of technology with tall buildings reaching the sky their sides adorned by electronic billboard and colored lights. The other seven systems are named after old earth mythological figures and places. The buildings on each of these worlds reflect idealized old earth architecture blended with modern living.

The inhabited planets beyond the Prime Systems are the galactic frontier. These isolated pockets of humanity are spread across the galaxy in other spiral arms. Each solar system is owned and operated by a wealthy individual or powerful corporation. Many have been cheaply terraformed and have dangerous abnormalities. Most are struggling. Some are illegal and not even mapped.

The Galactic Core is a dangerous placed filled with discontents and criminals. With wild energy fluctuations and dangerous phenomena only desperate people visit the core and only the most desperate live there.

Earning a living among remote outposts of the Galactic Frontier, a Mercenary always has to keep one step ahead of the Galactic Coalition. Flying from one terraformed world to another looking for work, your fellow crew are often the only people you can trust. Life in Galactic Frontierâ„¢ is hard and the jobs are dirty, but somehow you’ll manage if you stick together as a crew. Participants portray various kinds of futuristic mercenaries and plots delve into science fiction and space opera themes.
